Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy the area—from castles to cafés, scenic hikes to sweet little towns.

Nature & Hiking

Urach Waterfall

72574 Bad Urach, Germany
07125 94320

Just a short train ride or drive and hike away, this beautiful waterfall trail is one of the region’s most scenic spots. The hike is lush and green, with views that make the climb worth it. Pack comfy shoes and maybe a picnic!

Ruine Achalm

72766 Reutlingen, Germany

For a quicker hike with stunning views of Reutlingen below, Achalm is a local favorite. There’s even a restaurant up top for a reward drink (or dessert) after your walk.

Food & Wine

Tübingen Altstadt

Georgsbrunnen, Holzmarkt, 72070 Tübingen, Germany
07071 91360

A 20-minute train ride away, the old town of Tübingen is perfect for wandering cobbled streets and ducking into cozy cafés and local wine bars. Sit by the river with a glass of Württemberger wine—yes please.

Wochenmarkt Reutlingen

Marktpl. 8, 72764 Reutlingen, Germany

For a local flavor (literally), check out the farmers’ market in Reutlingen’s city center. Held every Tuesday and Saturday, it’s the perfect place to pick up fresh pastries, regional cheeses, flowers, and maybe a pretzel or two while soaking in the lively atmosphere.

History & Culture

Schloß Lichtenstein

Schloß Lichtenstein 1, 72805 Lichtenstein, Germany
07129 4102

Our favorite fairytale castle! Perched dramatically on a cliff edge, this 19th-century gem offers incredible views and an even better photo op. Guided tours are available, and it's accessible by bus and a short walk.

Hohenzollern Castle

72379 Burg Hohenzollern, Germany
07471 2428

A bit further out, but absolutely worth the trip. This mountaintop fortress looks like it’s straight out of a movie and has fascinating royal history to match. If you're keen on castles, this one’s a must.

Sigmaringen Castle

Karl-Anton-Platz 8, 72488 Sigmaringen, Germany
07571 729230

Another majestic stop for the castle lovers! Right on the Danube River, this impressive residence blends Renaissance charm with great historical exhibits.

Whether you’re adventuring through castle courtyards or sipping wine in a hidden courtyard café, we hope you have a chance to experience a little of what makes this area so special.
